WardAtlas is built on the open civic-data commons plus our own reviewed collection from official government websites. Every field in the API carries its own source URL and verification date; this page credits the projects and agencies the platform stands on.

Collected from the official record

Local officials — county commissions, city councils and mayors, township boards, school and university boards — and state legislative committee rosters are collected from the relevant official government websites (for example house.mi.gov, senate.michigan.gov, county and municipal sites). Extraction is AI-assisted, mechanically validated against verbatim quotes from the source page, and human-reviewed before publishing; the source URL is preserved on every field. Portraits of state and local officials mirror the official photos published by those governments, with the source retained.
